Directions of development of the military education system and officer training in Russia from 1991 to the present

Abstract

The aim of this research is to examine the principal directions for improving the quality of military specialists' training, based on a historical-pedagogical analysis. The article highlights key events related to the reform of higher military education in the Russian Federation; reflects the stages of transformation within the military education system; demonstrates the main areas of reform pertaining to new educational technologies and the difficulties of their implementation into the educational process; pays attention to issues of regulatory and legal support for the reforms undertaken; reflects the achievements and problematic aspects of the reform, and proposes recommendations for the further improvement of the higher military education system in the Russian Federation. The scientific novelty lies in the fact that the stages of reforming higher military education (1991-2024) are systematized for the first time, identifying key determinants: geopolitical, socio-economic, and regulatory-legal; a correlation is established between reform strategies and the dynamics of the quality of officer training; priority areas for improving the training system for future officers are substantiated. The theoretical provisions and methodological materials of the research ensure a qualitative level of military specialists' training in the face of modern challenges.
