Developing the leadership potential of future engineers in the process of research activity

Abstract

The study aims to develop and theoretically substantiate a structural-functional model for developing the leadership potential of future engineers in the process of research activity. The article examines theoretical and methodological approaches to the problem of developing the leadership potential of future engineers, reveals the pedagogical possibilities of students’ research activity, and characterizes the main components of the phenomenon under study. The scientific novelty of the study lies in clarifying the concept of “the leadership potential of a future engineer” as an integrative personal and professional attribute, developing a structural-functional model for its formation, and substantiating the pedagogical conditions for the effectiveness of this process. These conditions include supporting student agency, organizing a problem-oriented research environment, developing team-based interaction, and providing reflective support for research activity. The results of the study indicate that the systemic organization of research activity can be considered a significant pedagogical mechanism for developing the motivational, cognitive, and behavioral components of the leadership potential of future engineers.
